Providers, please read the following reminder regarding Standard 10D: Medical Conditions.

 Standard 10D: Medical Conditions:

Providers must be aware of any medical conditions children have and consult with the parents/guardians about any special handling required. This information must also be noted on the Portable Emergency Cards. Medical conditions include allergies, ecxema, asthma, epilepsy, or any other chronic illness or condition parents make providers aware of.

If you have any questions regarding this, or any other, standard, please review the Government of Alberta’s Family Day Homes Standard Manual, ask your Consultant, or contact the office at 403-526-8194.

Halloween 2014!

Big ‘Thank you’ to the Brooks provider who threw a huge Halloween party and invited the Brooks families enrolled in Apple Blossom and the Consultants. We had a blast! Here’s a photo of our Brooks Consultant, Saadia, and her daughter at the Halloween party:

Saturday Standards: 10C

Providers, please read the following reminder regarding Standard 10C: Illness.

If a provider notices that a child is exhibiting signs of a fever, diarrhea, vomiting or a new unexplained rash or cough, the provider is mandated to contact the parent or emergency contact and have the child removed from the day home. Further, children who are ill enough to require greater care and attention than can be given without compromising the care of the other children must be removed from the program.

When a child is removed from the day home, or if the parent communicates that the child was ill prior to arrival, the provider must ensure that the child does not return to care until the provider is satisfied that the child no longer poses a health risk to others. This can take the form of a doctor’s note or the parents’ declaration that the child has been symptom-free for 24 hours.

If you have any questions regarding this standard, please refer to the Government of Alberta’s Family Day Homes Standards Manual, ask your Consultant, or contact the office at 403-526-8194.
